The Max Planck Institute for Molecular Genetics, Berlin, is an international research institute with approximately 250 employees, working in the field of medical genomics.
In the Mass Spectrometry Group a PhD Position (Code: 17-04 M) is available immediately.
The research interest of our group is based in the field of mitochondrial pathologies and mitochondria and cancer. Furthermore, we provide mass spectrometry service for the entire Max Planck Institute for Molecular Genetics. Primary objectives for the candidate include, but are not limited to: LC-MS characterization of renal carcinomas, in close cooperation with the Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin.
Qualifications
The applicant should hold a master’s degree/diploma in biology, biochemistry or a related field. The applicant must show strong written and oral communication skills and a substantial interest in mass spectrometry. Expertise and hands-on experience, i.e., in quantitative mass spectrometry (nano-LC-MS/MS) with additional experience in proteomics sample preparation and bioinformatics are highly desirable. Key is to interpret results based on bioinformatic tools and literature searches.
The position
Responsibilities will include the development and execution of experiments, data analysis, manuscript preparation, presentation of results, and working with collaborators and other members, of the research team.
Our offer
The position is limited to 3 years and funded by a private organization (scholarship of €1350/month).
